Booting from CD Comments
One thing really cool about booting from the CD's is that right or wrong, as long as the hardware hasn't changed, the computer will boot exactly the same way every time unlike windows.

You can also see into your windows hard drive and edit your existing documents or picture if you need to.   I have even used a Knoppix CD to repair a windows installation before.

Booting to the CD can give you access to a non-booting machine so you can save all of your important files from the hard drive before you format and reinstall windows.
