Different Desktops you can try
If your more familiar with Mac OS and Apple machines, you will most likely be comfortable with a desktop brand named Gnome.  If your coming from a MS Windows world, you will be most likely comfortable with a desktop environment named KDE.

I know if you try it out a few times and start to figure out how to do stuff on it, you will begin to eventually like the system.
